Cocaine Bear is an American horror film directed and co-produced by Elizabeth Banks and written by Jimmy Warden. Inspired by the 1985 movie, it's a true story about a plane crash, no medicine, and a black bear that ate it. A group of police officers, thieves, tourists, and young people worked together in the forest of Georgia, where the 500-pound apex predator took drugs.

Plot:

In 1985, Andrew C. Thornton II. A drug smuggler sends a cocaine shipment from his plane. He tried to skydive with a bag of medicine, but knocked himself unconscious on the door frame, causing him to die. Her body landed in Knoxville, Tennessee, where Bob, a local detective, identified it. THEAZNEWS He concluded that the film probably came from St. Louis drug kingpin Syd White and the rest are missing. Meanwhile, in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, an American black bear ate some of the cocaine, became violent, and attacked two hikers, Elsa and Olaf, killing the former.

It should be noted that the real-life Cocaine Bear did not kill anyone after taking the drug, and what happened to cause his overdose death is unknown. In an interview with Variety's Adam B. Vary, Banks said "this movie can be seen as a bear story of revenge".

Response to the film:

Before the film's release, the story behind Cocaine Bear went viral on social media. Yasmin Tayag of The Atlantic wrote that the film's popularity on social media may be due in part to the appeal of the man and the narrative or the shock of the scene. However, he noted that the film also portrays the bear in a positive light.

Music:

In February 2022, Natalie Holt created the soundtrack. However, Mark Mothersbaugh replaced him as an author in November 2022. This is his second collaboration with Banks after Pitch Perfect 2 (2015).

The trailer for the film used the song "White Lines (Don't Do It)" by Melle Mel,  which is also featured at the end of the film.

Release:

Cocaine Bear was released on February 24, 2023, by Universal Pictures.

Box office:

As of March 12, 2023, Cocaine Bear has earned $51.7 million in the United States and Canada and $14 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $65.8 million.
