Hale S. Irwin (born June 3, 1945) is an American professional golfer. From the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, he was one of the top golfers in the world. He is one of the few players in history to win three US Opens, and in 1990, at the age of 45, he became the oldest US Open winner ever. As a senior golfer, Irwin holds the all-time record for PGA Tour Champions wins. He is considered one of the best players in Champions Tour history.

Along with Gary Player, David Graham, Bernhard Langer, and Justin Rose, Irwin is one of five golfers to win a major tournament in every country in which they play golf. He also built a career as a golf course architect.

Personal life:

Irwin is married to Sally and has two children. Irwin's son Steve qualified for the 2011 US Open. Steve Irwin said about his father: "I'm very proud of him. The US Open is the true definition of his career. THEAZNEWS My main goal in golf is to play in the tournament. The US Open was on around since I started racing." 

For 25 years, Hale Irwin has contributed financially to St. Louis Children's Hospital, which is named a wing in his honor. Irwin also enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He is the cousin of former CU lineman Heath Irwin.

In 2019, Irwin Payne Stewart received the PGA Tour Southern Conference Award in recognition of his character, sportsmanship, and dedication to the sport.
